What is Yoga?

It was realised in ancient times that yoga is a method of practice which brings out the best qualities within the individual, removing the false perception that we are all separate from others, and increasing the awareness of our interconnectedness.

Why does Alice Teach Yoga?

“Because…I love it!  It’s fun, a healthy habit, gives me focus, a way of being, and offers a sanctuary from the often hectic world around us….and much, much more! Why not come to class and experience how yoga can enhance your life!”

A typical yoga class is comprised of the following elements in this order:

  • Warm-ups
  • Static posture (asana) work and sequences (linking of asana together)
  • Pranayama (breathing techniques)
  • Relaxation

Artwork

The Sri Yantra is an ancient archetypal geometrical form used as a meditation tool or road map towards liberation.

Here individual self awareness is moved from the everyday level of gross material functioning, through the subtle and causal bodies to the level of conscious awareness, that which underpins everything, your true nature. Then on returning to the material level, the experience of conscious awareness is brought back and integrated into the everyday gross material world.

This is the process of yoga “joining”.

About

I’m sure you have better things to do than read about a middle aged woman!

“Yoga is a light, which once lit, will never dim.

The better your practice, the brighter the flame.”
